Fishing is a popular hobby among Ukrainians that allows one to relax and enjoy nature. However, it is important to adhere to the rules, as violations of the law can lead to serious fines or even imprisonment.
What Fishing Methods Are Prohibited in Ukraine
The legislation allows fishing using a rod or spinning, limiting the number of hooks to 7 per person and the volume of catch. However, there are prohibited methods, some of which include explosives, electric shock, or poisonous substances.
- explosives;
- electric shock;
- poisonous substances;
- weapons (except for harpoon guns for underwater hunting).
Any industrial or net fishing methods are also prohibited.
What Violations Can Lead Fishermen to Criminal Liability
The use of prohibited fishing methods incurs administrative responsibility in the form of fines and confiscation of gear. In case of significant harm, criminal liability may arise with high fines and restrictions on freedom.
