The associate of Onufriy, who lost his citizenship, addressed the supporters of the UOC MP in Russian.

Recently, it became known that 13 bishops of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) were stripped of Ukrainian citizenship. This does not prevent them from continuing their church and public activities in Ukraine. According to decree No. 898/2022, signed by President Zelensky, citizenship was revoked from individuals such as Bishop Sergey (Anitsiy), Metropolitan Meletiy (Yehorenko), and other representatives.
Particular attention was drawn to the case of Metropolitan Onufriy, whose citizenship was revoked on July 2. According to information from the Security Service of Ukraine, it was found that he held Russian citizenship since 2002 without informing the Ukrainian authorities. Later, Onufriy renounced his Russian citizenship, emphasizing that he feels like a citizen of Ukraine.
The revocation of citizenship from the bishops of the UOC (MP) is significant for the church environment in Ukraine. It emphasizes the importance of adhering to laws and transparency in the relations between the Church and the state.
