UN: War in Ukraine Becomes Deadlier for Civilians.

A report published by the UN Human Rights Office indicates that civilian casualties in Ukraine have significantly increased due to intensified fighting and rising use of drones, leading to tragic consequences.
Increase in Casualties Due to Explosive Weapon Attacks
From December 2024 to May 2025, the number of dead and wounded among the civilian population rose by 37%, totaling 968 dead and 4807 wounded individuals. Most casualties were recorded in areas controlled by the Ukrainian government as a result of attacks by Russian forces using explosives and drones around the front line.
In particular, missiles, aerial bombs, and other heavy weapons used in densely populated areas have become the leading cause of civilian casualties. Russian forces employed missiles with cluster warheads that exploded over densely populated areas, causing significant losses among peaceful residents.
The UN calls on all parties to the conflict to take immediate measures to ensure the protection of civilians and adherence to international humanitarian law during warfare.
