A batch of baby food containing dangerous toxin was seized in Lviv region.


A batch of baby food was seized in the Lviv region due to elevated levels of the hazardous substance - ochratoxin A. This became known after an unscheduled inspection conducted by the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection, reports 'Hromadske'.
Two batches of vegetable-meat puree for children from 10 months under the name 'Italian Lunch' from the brand Gerber were found to be dangerous. This product is produced in Finland by Suomen Nestle Oy and delivered to Ukraine through LLC 'NESTLE UKRAINE'.
During the inspection, it was found that the hazardous product had already reached market operators in Ukraine. In this regard, the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection decided to withdraw the product from sale and destroy it in accordance with current regulations.
Ochratoxin A is a harmful substance that can negatively affect the functioning of the body, in particular the kidneys and the immune system.
It is worth noting that schoolchildren will only have two months of vacation in the summer? The government has not made any decisions regarding shortening the holidays - this issue is under the competence of schools. Recently, information has spread on social media about the supposed reduction of summer holidays in 2025.
As is known, according to the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated July 23, 2024, the 2024/2025 academic year indeed lasts from September 2, 2024, to June 30, 2025.
