She pointed out that ships float, not 'walk', and drew attention to the issue of stress in the word 'vessel'.Olga Vasilyeva noted: 'It's very simple: in the Ukrainian language, it's navigation, not navigation by vessels (unlike in Russian)'.She also noted that the dictionaries of Krymsky and Yefremov record 'the ship floats'.The linguist emphasized that in the Ukrainian language, the stress in the word 'vessel' should be on the last syllable.'The rest are superstitions (like 'one can only sit in prison', 'extreme, not last', etc.). This is pure Soviet nonsense,' she remarked. The importance of adhering to the norms of the Ukrainian language and avoiding artificial borrowings and misconceptions was emphasized in Vasilyeva's explanations. In modern Ukrainian speech, it is often mistakenly believed that the word 'anniversary' is used only for sad events, while 'anniversary' is for positive ones. However, this does not conform to language norms. The linguist also explained the options for using the adverbs 'in Ukrainian' and 'in a Ukrainian way', focusing on the nuances of the phrase 'in a Ukrainian way'.Her comments regarding the adverb 'in a Ukrainian way' emphasized its correctness, despite the possible surprise of some speakers.Olga Vasilyeva's article illuminated the issues of vessel movement in water, the superstitions of the Ukrainian language, and the importance of adhering to language norms.
